Savaterre’s vineyard has been named in the top 25 vineyards in Australia and with good cause. The wines they make have been compared by many critics to hold balance and complexity on a similar level to Burgundy. There is minimal interference in Keppel Smith’s wines, he lets nature takes its course. The wine is matured for 18 months in the best French barrels before maturing in bottle prior to release. This wine is served in First Class on Emirates alongside some of the world’s best wines; a testament to its quality and achieves consistent scores of 95-98 points by critics.
A huge wine with a striking intensity of flavour, this wine is to be enjoyed and savoured. Savaterre’s top Chardonnay is an explosion of fruit and tertiary complexity Juicy, refreshing lime flavours, stonefruits, buttery hazelnuts and all with a flinty, smokey undertone and stony minerality. Whilst generous, the wine holds an amazing fine-tuned ‘tension’ and ‘raciness’ from the electric acidity wrapped up by the fruit flavours. This really does epitomise very fine, very long-lasting Burgundy made on the other side of the world.
