Shiraz
Shiraz (also known as Syrah) is a thick-skinned black grape that produces complex and spicy red wines famed in New World wine regions, most famously in Australia and it is also grown in New Zealand and South Africa. Producing powerful wines, the style of Shiraz is rich, deep and full-bodied, with fragrant dark fruit aromas of blackcurrant, black plum and a distinctive black pepper note. It has big and smooth tannins which means the wines are often capable of developing with age however many enjoy young whilst the fruit is vibrant. When the wine has aged, it develops complex leathery, pencil lead and chocolate notes which compliment the palate of the wine.
