Morocco
Morocco has the perfect climate for growing vines; set amongst the Atlas Mountain range and along the Atlantic coast, both act as a cooling influence on what would otherwise be an incredibly hot region. There are fourteen main appellations with around 50,000 hectares of vines combined, which are mostly red varieties such as Syrah, Grenache, Alicante and Tempranillo. As a largely Muslim country, Morocco’s wine production is largely aimed at tourism and also exports to neighbouring European countries. Hugely popular for French drinkers, Moroccan wines follow a classic old-world style.
