Savaterre’s vineyard has been named in the top 25 vineyards in Australia and with good cause. The wines they make have been compared by many critics to hold balance and complexity on a similar level to Burgundy. There is minimal interference in Keppel Smith’s wines, he lets nature takes its course. The wine is matured for 18 months in the best French barrels before maturing in bottle prior to release. This wine is served in First Class on Emirates alongside some of the world’s best wines; a testament to its quality and achieves consistent scores of 95-98 points by critics.
Frére Cadet wines are made with the same traditional winemaking as its big brother. Organic viticulture, wild yeast fermentation, no added yeasts or bacteria. It is aged for 18 months in the very best French barrels we import.
The entry Frere Cadet Pinot is a lot more than an entry-level wine, it is a vivacious, vibrant, fleshy and textured pinot. Expect cherry, a tint of smokiness, silky tannins with a herbaceous afternote. Aromas of dark morello cherry, rose, bramble, spice, clove and nutmeg. Oak complexities lurk in the background comes out as a subtle cedar and cigar box aroma. Eminent drinkability, savouriness and just enough complexity to show what amazing wines Savaterre make. It is a versatile wine that will pair with a wide range of foods from a simple roast chicken or duck, to the strong spicy flavours of Asian cuisine.
