The van der Niepoort family are an iconic ‘legacy’ producer in Portugal dating back to 1842. Lesser-known than the big Port houses, in our view they are massively under-rated as a smaller, more precise winery and have a strong link with not just Port but also brilliant dry/table wines from all over Portugal.
On the nose, the dark fruit aromas are wonderfully contrasted with a slightly green nuance and great finesse. The palate is medium sweet with a very tight structure, firm tannins, length and great finesse. 2007 has is a elegant and rich vintage with an impressive finesse even though robust.
