The van der Niepoort family are an iconic ‘legacy’ producer in Portugal dating back to 1842. Lesser-known than the big Port houses, in our view they are massively under-rated as a smaller, more precise winery, and have a strong link with not just Port but also brilliant dry/table wines from all over Portugal.
Intense brick-red colour with chestnut hues. The 2007 vintage offers mouth-watering fresh aromas of candied fruit, plums and figs, and a touch of smokiness. The palate is refreshing, with good acidity and abundant fruit, leading to a dry, elegant and seductively long finish.
