Nas-cetta (‘Nas-chetta’) is the forgotten grape of Piedmonte that almost went extinct. Le Strette was one of two passionate producers (turned vine hunters) to trace back the original vines and re-established the variety. It is now thought that hundreds of years ago Nas-cetta stood alongside Nebbiolo as the two local indigenous grapes of the region. This wine is a wonderful, complex journey, almost as if it were designed to go alongside food (just like it’s sibling Nebbiolo).
The wine has complex aromas of exotic fruits, melon, apple, honey and herb on the nose; the palate is driven by a saline freshness which draws you in to long and layered flavours of lemon, green bell pepper, salad fruit in a mineral, rounded and polished style. Vinified in stainless steel to retain its elegance. Long, elegant finish. A superb story but an even more superb wine in magnum format that will age that little bit better.
