The Wanderlust project is the winemaker having a go and turning his craft to something different, a path of the unknown as discovery – exactly what we are about! This is the well-known Sauvignon Blanc grape produced in an unusual way; using carbonic maceration (used in making lighter, fruiter reds – most commonly in Beaujolais) and skin contact. It spent 16 months in traditional clay amphora to develop and mature.
The wine has a very complex most of stone fruits, tea leaves and apples. In the mouth, thanks to the skin contact it is massively textured with flavours of lemon, grapefruit pith, apricot skin and waxy fruits. Long, elegant and complex. Unique, interesting and a new way to see what Sauvignon can give us outside of New Zealand! Great with Thai food. Only 2,173 bottles made.
