From the Nolan Ranch in Santa Ynez’ Alisos Canyon where they are experimenting with rare plantings, this is a love letter to the South of France, where the waxy, saline whites of Cassis, Bandol, and Châteauneuf Blanc from some of the greatest producers of these appellations are all based on Clairette. The wine was aged in old French barrels allowing a classic, long ageing profile to develop much more complexity.
The wine is fresh and textured, a superb, long mouthwatering saline punchy alongside waxy fruits, citrus and fresh lemons. This is a super food-friendly pour and demonstrates how California can produce top-notch wines rivalling a lot of what is produced in the old-world.
