This Counoise comes from a single parcel in Santa Ynez Valley that’s wild with limestone and fossils. The original vines planted here come from revered Beaucastel in Chateauneuf-du-Pape. In a world of ongoing climate change, the grape has natural acidity lending itself well to warm growing conditions.
The wine is similar to the profile of top-quality Northern Spanish Grenache or light Cru Beaujolais. It is floral and fresh with flavours of crunchy red berries, rose, fresh red cherry and structured with cranberry grip. Gentle minerally carries through on the long finish. It spends ten months in neutral French oak to achieve this complexity and will easily pair with a variety of foods due to its acidity and natural structure.
