This is one of the two top wines from the estate, made from minimum 100-year-old vines which produce intense and complex juice. The vines are also planted at a steep profile 700m up from the river Douro which adds to the quality of the growing conditions.
Quinta da Carolina Tinto Reserva is a wine that is very pure and mineral, there is oak ageing here but it is well integrated and only adds to the complexity. Because the vines are North-facing which gives an inherent freshness through the wine. It is ruby in colour with herbal notes and fresh fruit on the nose. In the mouth, it is big and juicy with flavours of bramble, black fruits, deep and persistent. It is a great example of the amazing wines the Douro can kick out and can be enjoyed now but has a clear ageing ability. Decanting or opening the bottle 30 minutes before drinking will allow the wine to show itself to the fullest.
