The Carolina Red is the result of a blend from several vineyard parcels of the Quinta. It gets to age in the barrels previously used in the top reds of the estate, imparting just enough complexity without the wine being too imparted by woody/cedar flavours. At an entry-level price point, it is superb value to show the style of Luis’ winemaking (he is also the winemaker at legend producer Niepoort).

The nose is a big, delicious spectrum of sweet red, blue and black fruits and with the non-interventional approach taken to the winemaking here, a natural earthiness in the wine. In the mouth, you get lush black fruit, black cherry and spices. Carolina Tinto is a balanced, fresh and elegant wine, easy drinking and fantastically food friendly.
