The van der Niepoort family are an iconic ‘legacy’ producer in Portugal dating back to 1842. Lesser-known than the big Port houses, in our view they are massively under-rated as a smaller, more precise winery and have a strong link with not just Port but also brilliant dry/table wines from all over Portugal.
This ruby port is made from low yielding old vineyards in the Cima Corgo Region of the Douro Valle. Dark red in colour, with a fresh vibrant aroma of dark fruits which follows through on the palate along with a mineral character, a youthful wine with good extract and great balance.
