James Rahn is a former sommelier who gained recognition for his award-winning wine lists in Chicago and Portland. He has since become a winemaker, producing wines in the Oregon region exclusively using single varietals and plot-specific fruits in the cool climate of Willamette Valley. Rahn’s first vintage was released in 2013, using grapes from Maresh vineyard, one of the oldest vineyards in Oregon that was planted in 1970, and RainSong vineyard, planted in 1984. You will find a lot of less popular varietals from his range, such as Mondeuse and Trousseau!
Layered with aromas of cherry, raspberry and cranberry. The secondary layer with cedar, vanilla and the stoney touch will surface after a few more swirls. This light-bodied wine offers a set of red berries, earthy and baking spice notes on the palate. Its well-balanced acidity will bring you to a silky and rounded finish.
