Grand Francais Cabernet Franc ‘Amphore’

This is Grand Français’ top wine – a modern and successful experiment making 40-year-old Cab Franc vines in a traditional clay amphorae. Using clay instead of oak provides a smoother texture – a technique taken from Roman times. The wine is bottled without sulphur to preserve its purity.
A lovely deep purple colour, with aromas and flavours of cherry, blackberry, and slate. In the mouth, the wine is deep and brooding; a hint of slate reveals the floral notes of rose and peony. Dry and ample, the Grand Français Amphore is full of fresh fruit, cheery compote, blueberry pie and baking spices with a remarkable juicy and silky texture.
