Since 1979, Alain Gras has been passionately working with great respect for the land. The estate benefits from an exceptional terroir, situated on top of a hill with limestone-clay soil that forces the vine roots to descend deep into the bedrock, allowing them to obtain the necessary nutrients. The typicity of the soil in Saint Romain imparts minerality, elegance, and freshness to the grapes. The domain spans over 12 hectares, primarily located in Saint Romain, Meursault, and Auxey Duresses, where all the vineyards are sustainably farmed.
It has a deep red colour with notes of violet and an expressive nose characterised by aromas of red fruit and cherries, with only a discrete touch of oak. The palate displays supple tannins, with good fruit and freshness, leading to an elegant finish. This wine is ideal for cellaring for 3 to 6 years after the harvest, and it is at its peak to enjoy now.
Wine Spectator rated this wine 90/100 in 2017
“This expressive red delivers pure cherry, stone, and smoke aromas and flavours, allied to a lean frame. Firm and succulent, showing fine balance and length. Drink now through 2027.”
