Vinos en Voz Baja Barrio Pastores

£34.00

Vinos en Voz Baja is a winery in the historic wine region of Rioja Oriental. It is owned by a husband-and-wife team: Carlos Mazo Gutierrez, an environmental biologist, and Isa Ruiz Marin, a graphic designer. Over the years, the estate has gained momentum and received significant recognition in a short period, including the “Wine of the Year” in Tim Atkin’s 2024 special report on Rioja.

Grenache is the main grape variety produced due to Carlos’s belief in its ability to age long term. The wines are always accessible and delicious to drink in the first few years of release, with massive upside for those to are willing to wait especially with his single plot expressions.

The grapes that are harvested for this cuvee comes from two vineyards of Grenache in the lower part of Aldeanueva close to the river. The is an elegant, foot-trodden Rioja Oriental red, displaying a bright ruby colour and pronounced aromas of wild strawberries, cherry, violets and fennel. The palate is silky and complex, with ripe tannins and good acidity leading up to a long lasting finish.
