A family business dating back 1842, Niepoort’s mission is to maintain its position of “niche player”, continuing to produce distinctive ports and Douro wines, combining centuries-old tradition with innovation. Under the current stewardship of the fifth generation winemakers Eduard Dirk Niepoort and Verena Niepoort, they believe the incorporation of rigorous site selection in conjunction with biodynamic techniques will result in wines with tremendous concentration and complexity, without sacrificing balance or poise.
Brilliant golden / brown colour with a fresh nutty aroma and delicate subdued fruit. Sweet on the palate, interacting perfectly with the spirit which in turn gives a superb structure to the wine. It is super versatile wine, goes well cool as an aperitif, room temp as a dessert wine and great with some spicy curries too.
