Hermann J. Wiemer are widely regarded as one of the Finger Lake’s flagship producers – their expressive and elegant wines set the benchmark for the region, with their Riesling range in particular considered among the best in the world. Wiemer work with great attention to detail and aim to bring out the full expression of the grapes and vineyards through light-handed winemaking. They use natural yeasts only and all the vineyards are in conversion to biodynamic farming.
Their Riesling Late Harvest is inspired by German Spatlese, with moderate natural sweetness balanced by bright minerality and lively acidity. Grapes are allowed to hand longer in the vines and develop incredible intensity of aromas, perfectly captured by Wiemer. Expect intense aromas of honey, tropical fruits, and ripe peaches, followed by a generous palate. The finish is incredibly long, sweet but also very mineral and fresh.
Perfectly paired with a cheese plater, fruit-based desserts or even barbecued meat. It’s opulent freshness will cut right through the richness of the dishes.
