This is Grand Français’ top wine – a modern and successful experiment making 40-year-old Cab Franc vines in a traditional clay amphorae. Using clay instead of oak provides a smoother texture – a technique taken from Roman times. The wine is bottled without sulphur to preserve its purity.
Intense cherry-red in colour, the wine opens with aromas of cherry and subtle smoke. The palate is delicate and smooth, with velvety tannins and a uniquely refined, earthy character. Distinctive and beautifully balanced.
