Egon Muller QBA Riesling

Egon Müller, whose Rieslings ate unanimously considered some of the best in the world today, sits rightly in our category of ‘wine legends’. He owns just under 8 hectares of vines in the world-famous Scharzhofberg vineyard, including 3 hectares of ungrafted Riesling vines from the 19th century.

The combination of the fantastic Scharzhofberger terroir and Egon’s genius as a winemaker, result in wines of incredible minerality, fruit expressiveness and vibrant acidity, all in perfect balance. All Egon Müller’s wines have great ageing potential, yet are also delicious when consumed young. His QBA Riesling is the entry-level Mosel wine that gives the perfect entry-point to the world of Müller’s Rieslings.

Vinified in stainless steel, the 2020 Riesling QBA is clear, ripe and quite intense on the nose, displaying delicate flintiness, apple and lime, with a gentle top note of classic German petrol. On the palate, rich fruit is balanced by vibrant acidity and intense minerality. The wine is mouth-filling, pure, and vibrant with lovely complexity. Bright, zesty acidity lends a superbly mouth-watering feel to the long finish.
