“Deux C” is the collaborative effort of winemakers Morgan Clendenen and Yves Cuilleron, blending 50% Old Vine Sanford and Benedict Viognier from California, USA and Les Chaillets Viognier from Condrieu, France.
Wines were vinified separately at each winemaker’s domaine. Cuilleron’s portion was air-shipped from France to Clendenen’s winery in the Santa Maria Valley, where the wines were blended and bottled.
The extremely aromatic wine opens up with peach, pear, and flowers which undoubtedly represent the French portion of the wine. On the other hand, the California portion of the blend is characterised by its bold flavour of apricot, peach and pear, with hints of honey and minerals, that linger in the finishing. This Viognier is a perfect combination of the best characteristics from both regions, making it unique and powerful.
Only a limited number of 480 bottles were produced for this special project. We are honoured to have received a very small portion of the library release from the winery.
