Niepoort LBV is a full-bodied red Port that is made from a selection of wines from a single vintage. It is aged for 4 to 6 years in large wooden vats to achieve a round and mature character. This extended ageing period allows the LBV to be enjoyed soon after bottling.
The 2019 vintage wine has a dark ruby colour with a red rim. It has a powerful aroma of dark chocolate, fruits of the forest and a hint of spice. The palate has a medium weight with a firm structure and acidity, which provides excellent freshness, rounding up with a spicy and warming finish. It is great to drink now, dominated by freshness and primary fruit flavour. However, it can be aged for a couple of decades.
