We are very proud to have Mas de Daumas Gassac’s wines on our portfolio. Having believed in making wine in what was a farming county many decades ago, their belief in the region paid off with them proving the soil and terroir could make outstanding wine. Now generations on, they are well regarded as the ‘first growth of the Languedoc’ with their flagship, complex Estate wines and now a much more affordable everyday range.
The creation of Daumas Gassac wines is attributed to Professor Emile Peynaud, hence their finest wine is named in his honour. Emile Peynaud is the man who taught the Daumas Gassac team everything they know and revealed the art of crafting wine that reflects the exceptional terroir of the Gassac Valley.
The 2007 vintage is a very heady 100% old-vine Cabernet Sauvignon. On the nose, you will find aromas of cassis, mint and leather. The palate is dense with sweet black fruit flavours. Gentle and fresh on the palate with good acidity and spiciness on the finish. A remarkable example of Cabernet Sauvignon.
Cuvee Emile Peynaud is only made in the best vintages. This particular vintage was rated 17/20 by Jancis Robinson. With 16 years of bottle ageing, it has entered its peak for enjoyment. Be sure to decant 3-4 hours before serving to reveal its full potential.
