Vintage Bruno Paillard N.P.U “Nec Plus Ultra” Rose 2008

Bruno Paillard N.P.U. – “NEC PLUS ULTRA” is an exceptional champagne only made in years considered great and as a literal translation from latin means “there is nothing better”, it is the flagship of the house, showing off the best of what they can produce. Fruit for this wine only comes from the most sought-after Grands Crus in Champagne, namely Oger, Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, Chouilly, Cramant, Verzenay, Mailly-Champagne and Bouzy.

This wine is fermented in small oak barrels for the first 10 months, aged on lees for 10 years and followed by 12 years of bottle ageing after disgorgement. Like all other Bruno’s champagne, it is an “Extra-Brut” style with a very low dosage, allowing for the pure expression of the region’s terroir.

As the latest addition to this series, the 2008 vintage is the first to be released as a Rose. It radiates a bright coral hue and fine bubbles that rise elegantly in the glass. Elderflower, blood orange, and quince jelly are the primary notes, with hints of yuzu. As it opens up, it reveals complex aromas of blackcurrant, paprika, fresh cedar wood, and coffee cream. This champagne is characterised by its lively acidity and distinct salinity, with wild strawberries and cherries lingering on the finish. It is an incredibly rich and refreshing Rose Champagne that has been aged for 15 years!
