Château de Beaucastel has long been regarded as one of the greatest wineries in France, notorious for its elegance, poise and ageing potential. Beaucastel has an exceptional terroir at the Northern point of Châteauneuf du Pape, exposed to the cooling Mistral wind which provides such balance. All thirteen grape varieties of the Chateauneuf have been organically grown since the sixties; without a doubt, Beaucastel is a name we are proud to highlight and an organic wine icon that many have learnt from.
Coming mostly from a plot of old vines located behind the estate, the Perrin Family’s Châteauneuf du Pape Hommage à Jacques Perrin was first created in 1989 and is a tribute to the late Jacques Perrin, who passed away in 1978. Aged in large oak foudre and normally a blend of 60% Mourvedre, 20% Grenache, 10% Counoise and the rest Syrah, it’s only produced in top vintages with only 350 cases produced.
2003 is a hot and dry year, resulting in a powerful vintage. The wine is layered with ripe red and dark fruits, truffle, spice, and liquorice aromas. The palate is a classic blend of dark cherry, blackcurrants, leather, smoked meat and grind coffee. This full-bodied red wine offers ripe tannins and a remarkable finish. With 20 years of bottle ageing, the wine is fully matured and ready to drink now!
