This is Remhoogte’s ‘orange wine’, these are the same grapes from the Honeybunch wine, just undergoing a different winemaking approach. It is left to ferment on the skins of the white Chenin Blanc grapes (2 weeks instead of 12 hours), giving it more texture and grip in the mouth. It’s also oak barrelled so the wine could develop and mature before bottling.
It is less golden than it’s Honeybunch sister and has a specific haze due to the contact with the grape skins (and it is unfiltered). The wine is a fresh, spicy and saline journey in your mouth which is much more lemon zest rather than honeysuckle. It goes incredibly well with food due to its texture and acidity, one of its defining characteristics.
