Terres de Velle is a relatively new domaine that was established in 2009 by Sophie and Fabrice Laronze, a husband-and-wife team based in Auxey-Duresses. They oversee the production of 18 appellations each year, using grapes grown on their 7-hectare estate.
The 2012 growing season was exceptional, standing out from all existing benchmarks. It began with a few fairly usual winter frosts and a beautiful month of March. From April onwards, it was almost nothing to complain.
Made from 50-year-old vines, the wine has a clear ruby colour. It presents fruit aromas on the nose, while the rich and intense palate has the elegance of its ripe and silky tannic. Its minerality brings length and freshness. The outstanding growing season has definitely built a beautiful harmony on the palate, making 2012 a vintage with good ageing potential.
It is worth noting that this wine is a very small batch production, with only around 2000 bottles produced per vintage!
