1999 is an exceptional vintage with power, richness and concentration, due to a relatively mild growing season which ended with increased temperatures closer to harvest time. The wine is deeply coloured. When young, the wine was dense and fleshy. With more than two decades of bottle ageing, all the fresh fruits have evolved into dried plums and figs, giving the wine some subtle sweetness that intertwines beautifully with its smoky, chocolaty, spicy notes.
