1969 is a vintage that has been aged for over 40 years and is still showing its complexity and finesse.
It has aromas of dark fruits, leather, tobacco, and spices, with a hint of earthiness. The palate is smooth and velvety, with flavours of blackberry, plum, and fig, along with cedar and spice. The finish is long and lingering, with a touch of sweetness.
“This smells like delicious old-fashioned red burgundy. There’s a bit of alcohol on the end. Thoroughly rumbustious. What an impact! Sweet violet compote. Fine, long-polished tannins have almost completely receded. Lots of fun. Very slight powderiness on the finish. Drink 1984-2024” rated 18 points by Jancis Robinson in April 2018.
A wine at its peak and an excellent choice for those looking for a unique bottle to collect or enjoy!
