Niepoort LBV is a full-bodied red Port that is made from a selection of wines from a single vintage. It is aged for 4 to 6 years in large wooden vats to achieve a round and mature character. This extended ageing period allows the LBV to be enjoyed soon after bottling.
The 2009 LBV has a deep violet colour. It has a complex aroma in which the red fruit notes are predominant with notes of cherries and spices and a peppery and a hint of dark chocolate. On the palate, it is concentrated and full-bodied with firm yet elegant and smooth tannins. The vibrant acidity provides freshness and balance to the wine, elevated with a long and pleasant finish.
This port is ready to be enjoyed and will become more complex by extending ageing for a few more decades.
