Since 1979, Alain Gras has been passionately working with great respect for the land. The estate benefits from an exceptional terroir, situated on top of a hill with limestone-clay soil that forces the vine roots to descend deep into the bedrock, allowing them to obtain the necessary nutrients. The soil in Saint Romain imparts minerality, elegance, and freshness to the grapes. The domain spans over 12 hectares, primarily located in Saint Romain, Meursault, and Auxey Duresses, where all the vineyards are sustainably farmed.
Crafted from 40-year-old vines, the 2016 vintage is both powerful and sophisticated. It boasts an aroma of apple and pear, with a hint of nuts, toast, and vanilla beans. The expressive palate is full and supple with minerality, an elegant touch of oak, and a beautiful, lengthy finish. At its 8th year in the bottle, the wine is now at its peak and ready to be enjoyed at its full potential.
