Wine Club: the gift that keeps on giving

Our Wine Club makes a wonderful gift for friends and loved ones. It is convenient (for you and for them), fun and interesting. But how does it all work?

The idea of starting a Wine Club was prompted by repeated requests from some of Wanderlust’s  first and most loyal customers.

“I really love your wines, but I don’t always have the time to log-on and go through the options and choose what I want. Can’t you just send me more great wines and bill me? That would be wonderful.”

“I’d love to try more interesting wines, but I don’t feel confident navigating different regions and grapes so end up buying the same bottles over and over again. Can you help?”

These are examples of messages that filled our inbox and upon which our Wine Club started taking shape.

After we started the Wine Club, it became apparent that a subscription, along with all the associated perks, was also something customers wanted as a gift option – a hassle-free present, sure to please and impress giftees. We therefore expanded our range of subscription by creating gift options for all the available plans. They work exactly the same as their non-gift counterparts, except that they are paid upfront (4, 6 or 12 months) and do not renew at the end of the gifted period.

So how can you buy a gift subscription?

Firstly, go to our Wine Club page and choose which of the three-tiered options of Silver, Gold or Platinum you wish to gift to someone.

Then, simply select on the dropdown of the gifting options listed for each tier (e.g. Gold Gift: 6 months (mixed)). You’ll be prompted to:

  • enter the recipient’s email address
  • schedule the date/time when they’ll be notified of your gift.
  • enter any special message you want included in the gift notification

The recipient will then be emailed their gift notification (including any special message you might have entered) and asked to claim their subscription on the scheduled date/time.
When claiming the gift, they’ll be able to set up their account details and submit the shipping address for their wine subscription (please note that we only ship inside the UK).

Both the recipient and purchaser of a gifted subscription can manage and view the details of the subscription via our subscriptions portal.
Again, all gift subscriptions are, by default non-renewable.
You’ll be able to select the duration of your gift and the full amount will need to be paid upfront. So if you select a 6-month option, the subscription will run for 6 months only and no further payments will be taken after that.

Silver? Gold? Platinum? Which tier should I gift?

The three membership tiers offer different wine selections and benefits. The main differences are the number of bottles they’ll get every two months, the number of free tickets to tasting events and the ongoing percentage discount on any orders placed outside the wine club, throygh our website.
So the main aspects to consider are:

  • how much you want to spend,
  • how their drinking habits look like
  • the extent to which you’d like them learn and explore, or simply stay in their comfort zone.

Work out your budget and take a good look at the benefits listed for each tier. And if you’re unsure and feel like you need some help, do not hesitate to drop us a line.

How about the Discovery Box?

When placing your order, you can decide on whether to also gift an introductory Discovery Box, normally at £100, at a welcome price of £75. This box, featuring some our members absolute favourites, gives an exciting overview of our portfolio and of what to expect from the membership.

By default, this will be shipped with the first Silver/Gold/Platinum selection after the gift has been redeemed.

Some customers do want the Discovery Box to be shipped in advance to themselves so they can have it as a physical item to hand over on the same day the gift notification (email) is sent out. If this is the case all you need to do is send us an email when placing the gift order order so we can ship the Discovery Box asap.

Not in the UK?

If you live outside of the UK you can still purchase a gift subscription to a colleague or loved one on British shores. As long as a UK shipping address is provided when they redeem the gift you’ll have no issues at all.

In fact, our Wine Club subscriptions have become popular gifts among overseas customers that want to treat their family and friends in the UK.
On the other hand, if you live in the UK and want to gift someone in another country we cannot, unfortunately deliver we gift as with ship within the UK only.
