Setting the standard for English sparkling wine since 1988
Spread across the counties of Kent, Sussex, and Hampshire, Nyetimber works exclusively with estate-grown fruit to produce some of England’s most prestigious and highest rated sparkling wines. Devoted exclusively to Champagne’s noble varieties (Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Meunier) and with a premium terroir similar to that of the Paris basin, Nyetimber has, through meticulous attention to detail and precise winemaking, developed a unique classical style to rival and better our French neighbours.
Over the last 30 years, Nyetimber English sparkling wines have achieved global acclaim. They have won international awards and blind tasting competitions, and are recognised by some of the world’s most celebrated wine experts.
How we found them/How Richard found them: I have always had so much respect for what Nyetimber has achieved. We are extremely lucky to be selected as one of only a few distributors in the UK and hope that we can solidify the reputation they continue to reinforce as one of England’s great sparkling producers, rightly recognised internationally.
Located in the South Downs, the valley of Nyetimber has a lengthy history, first recorded in the Domesday Book in 1086. Almost exactly 900 years on, in 1988, the first Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Meunier vines were planted and Nyetimber became the first estate in the United Kingdom to devote its production to the traditional champagne trio only.
Eric Heerema became the owner and custodian of Nyetimber in 2006, having immediately recognised the full potential of its location and terroir. It was around this time that married couple Cherie Spriggs and Brad Greatrix were gifted a bottle of Nyetimber sparkling wine. Brad said he “realised that something special was happening at Nyetimber” and so together they decided to make contact. Both sharing the same passion as Eric, Cherie was appointed as Head Winemaker and Brad as Winemaker.
All the wines at Nyetimber are produced through the méthode traditionnelle, with extended lees ageing and generous post-disgorgement rest before release. With their own pressing centre and winery, the crafting of the sparkling wines is all done under Cherie and Brad’s watchful eyes from vine to bottle.

Interesting fact: Nyetimber was the first UK sparkling wine to win blind tasting competitions over Champagne, which understandably annoyed (and intrigued!) the French.
