Vintage Castello di Ama Chianti Classico Reserva 2007
£57.00
Known for the elegance, freshness, innate intensity and depth of its wines, critic Antonio Galloni has one stated, “Tuscan estate Castello di Ama has crafted some of the most riveting wines in Tuscany… Simply put, there are few estates in Italy at this level.”
Owners Lorenza Sebasti and Marco Pallanti have been making wines here since the 1970s, around the hamlet of Ama, perched 450-550 metres above sea level. Castello di Ama is known for their commitment to excellence, which they believe begins in the vineyards. This is shown through respect and care for the land, manual processing of the grapes, and very low yields per acre to produce world class wines!
This 2007 Riserva displays a dark, deep ruby. The nose is very spicy, confident and complex. Masses of ripe fruit but no excess alcohol and lovely vigour. Real polish and fragrance. There is so much ripe fruit that the wine can already be enjoyed but it clearly has many years ahead of it.
