Moulin de Gassac Combe Calcaire Red

We are very proud to have Mas de Daumas Gassac’s wines on our portfolio. Having believed in making wine in what was a farming county many decades ago, their belief in the region paid off with them proving the soil and terroir could make outstanding wine. Now generations on, they are well regarded as the ‘first growth of Languedoc’ with their flagship, complex Estate wines and now a much more affordable everyday range.

Gassac is arguably expert in blending with over 20 varietals going into their top wines. Combe Calcaire is a description of the limestone soil that provides for integrated minerality and a vivacious profile. This is a more affordable, expertly blended white that spends 12 months in old oak barrels for extra layers of complexity. Deep ruby red in the glass, on the nose it is expressive and draws you in. On the palate, pronounced red berries, crunchy cranberry freshness, dark cherry and a touch of tannin to help it stand up to food.  The finish is structured and balanced with gentle spice notes. Superb with red meat, game, duck and Asian food.  This is a baby version of their red Estate blend at a third of the cost.
