Carlos Mazo Costumbres White Rioja

£24.50

Vinos en Voz Baja is a winery in the historic wine region of Rioja Oriental. It is owned by a husband-and-wife team: Carlos Mazo Gutierrez, an environmental biologist, and Isa Ruiz Marin, a graphic designer. Over the years, the estate has gained momentum and received significant recognition in a short period, including the “Wine of the Year” in Tim Atkin’s 2024 special report on Rioja.

Grenache is the main grape variety produced due to Carlos’s belief in its ability to age long term. His wines are always accessible and delicious to drink in the first few years of release, with massive upside for those to are willing to wait especially with his single plot expressions.

The Vinos en Voz Baja Costumbres Blanco emerges as a youthful and vibrant wine, perfectly suited for those in pursuit of a delicate and subtly aromatic tipple. On the nose, it unfurls scents reminiscent of white fruits such as pear, complemented by a citrus zest and underpinned by hints of anise and tarragon. Upon tasting, it reveals a pleasing texture, striking a harmonious balance between body and acidity, rendering it effortlessly quaffable and enjoyable at any given time.

A white wine that is truly worth exploring.
