Vintage Castello di Ama L’Apparita 2013
£160.00
Known for the elegance, freshness, innate intensity and depth of its wines, critic Antonio Galloni has one stated, “Tuscan estate Castello di Ama has crafted some of the most riveting wines in Tuscany… Simply put, there are few estates in Italy at this level.”
Owners Lorenza Sebasti and Marco Pallanti have been making wines here since the 1970s, around the hamlet of Ama, perched 450-550 metres above sea level. Castello di Ama is known for their commitment to excellence, which they believe begins in the vineyards. This is shown through respect and care for the land, manual processing of the grapes, and very low yields per acre to produce world class wines!
L`Apparita was first produced in 1985 as the first 100% Merlot single-vineyard Tuscan wine, and since then, has gained worldwide recognition for its exceptional quality and distinct character. The 2013 L’Apparita is a real stunner. Deep, explosive and beautifully layered in the glass. This is an especially restrained Apparita built more on finesse than power. Layers of rich, dark fruit, spice, leather and smoke infuse the creamy, voluptuous finish. In short, this is a memorable edition for one of Tuscany’s very finest wines.
