Vintage Beaucastel Chateauneuf du Pape 2013
£93.00
Château de Beaucastel has long been regarded as one of the greatest wineries in France, notorious for its elegance, poise and ageing potential. Beaucastel has an exceptional terroir at the Northern point of Châteauneuf du Pape, exposed to the cooling Mistral wind which provides such balance. All thirteen grape varieties of the Chateauneuf have been organically grown since the sixties; without a doubt, Beaucastel is a name we are proud to highlight and an organic wine icon that many have learnt from.
The 2013 vintage of Syrah and Mourvèdre is impressive. Harvested at optimal maturity, the Grenache adds power and body to this vintage. Instead of the Southern Rhône style, this wine reflects a Northern Rhône character. It has a deep ruby colour in the glass, and the nose reveals complex aromas of black fruit, cocoa, tobacco, and mild spices. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and long, framed with rich, soft tannins and a beautifully persistent finish.
