Niepoort Tawny Colheita Port 1934
£750.00
The van der Niepoort family are an iconic ‘legacy’ producer in Portugal dating back to 1842. Lesser-known than the big Port houses, in our view they are massively under-rated as a smaller, more precise winery, and have a strong link with not just Port but also brilliant dry/table wines from all over Portugal.
The 1934 Colheita is a remarkable wine with dense concentration and power that leaves one’s mouth-watering. Despite its long time in the cask, it maintains an amazing level of richness, complemented by powerful acidity that adds brightness and vibrancy. The nose is projecting powerful notes of molasses and dark chocolate. With air and time, the wine reveals its robust structure, but the rich texture remains consistent.
Aromatics, viscosity, complexity, and an incredible finish—this wine has it all. A true gem for those seeking exceptional older Colheita.
