Castello di Ama Chianti Classico Gran Selectzione “San Lorenzo”
£52.00
Known for the elegance, freshness, innate intensity and depth of its wines, critic Antonio Galloni has one stated, “Tuscan estate Castello di Ama has crafted some of the most riveting wines in Tuscany… Simply put, there are few estates in Italy at this level.”
Castello di Ama San Lorenzo is named after the picturesque San Lorenzo valley viewed from the estate’s eighteenth-century Villa Pianigiani and Villa Ricucci. The wine is produced from the finest grapes grown in the historic vineyards Bellavista, Casuccia, San Lorenzo and Montebuoni.
This wine reveals a ruby colour, with bright and intense reflections. The nose opens with aromas of cranberries, strawberries enriched with pleasant spice and herbal notes. On the palate it is elegant and refined, with silky, ripe tannins leading to a long lasting finish. Low production yields, combined with old Sangiovese vines, results in this wine gaining remarkable complexity and exemplary intensity over time.
