Bruno Paillard Coteaux Champenois Le Mesnil is a still white wine produced exclusively from the first pressing of Chardonnay from “Mesnil-sur-Oger”, one of the most notable Grands Crus at the Côte des Blancs, Champagne. Compared with other vines in the same cru, these old vines have around 30-50% lower yield, resulting in a more intense and unique expression of the chalk terroir characteristics.
The 2020 vintage is showing a deep and vibrant gold colour, with lively notes of grapefruit, white peach and a touch of lemon peel. The undertone of the green kernel, star anise and white pepper will surface from the development. The palate is full of tension with fruit freshness, attacking acidity with a gentle touch of salty sea spray, supported by a persistent salinity long finish. Give it a few years’ time in the cellar and the wine will reveal itself completely.
This is an extremely small production with only four barrels (1120 bottles) being produced. One-of-a-kind white still wine from Champagne made by an iconic producer, with very limited stock available.
