Freshco is This is the chillable entry-level red from Howards Folly. It is produced in the northeast of Alentejo on the granite foothills of the mountains where cooler temperatures give complexity and freshness. The wine is aged for 9 months in second use oak barrels to allow the wine to develop. The picture is an aerial photograph of a glacier in Greenland which due to climate change is unfortunately no more. The team at Howards Folly decided to highlight the effect of climate change and the ongoing effect of summers are getting hotter along with the need for chillable reds for summer drinking.
The wine is a vibrant bright red in colour with perfumed, lifted aromas of fresh cherries and wild berries. In the mouth, the wine is lighter than the nose suggests and driven by red fruits – raspberries, pomegranate and with a cranberry juice grip. Soft and delicate tannins prevail for a wine that is designed to be enjoyed a bit colder than room temperature.
