Located on the outskirts of Montalcino, Fornacina has been crafting wines in the Brunello di Montalcino appellation since the 1980s and has been certified organic since 2004. Founded by Ruggero Biliorsi, the estate is now run by brothers Simon and Mauro, who continue to carry forward the family’s passion for winemaking, passed down through generations.
Produced from 100% Sangiovese, it spent five years ageing in barrel and bottle before release. The result is an intense ruby red wine with garnet highlights, showing remarkable depth and elegance. This 2019 vintage offers complex aromas of spice, vanilla and liquorice, balanced with notes of marasca cherry and prune. The palate is full-bodied, persistent and refined, with soft, elegant tannins that carry through to a long finish. A superb partner for grilled red meats, rich, complex dishes, and aged cheeses.
