Bodegas Vinicola Real is an organic producer located in the heart of Rioja Alta, known for some of the highest-scoring wines in Spain. They do not use artificial herbicides and pesticides, opting for more natural methods of cultivation where they only hand-select the best parcels for each wine. 200 Monges Reserva is named after the 200 monks who inhabited the disappeared Monastery of San Martín de Albelda.
The 2009 vintage is a blend of the best-quality grapes from two specific plots in the Najerilla and the Iregua Valley. When poured, it has a bright golden colour and aromas of dried flowers, ripe fruit, wild herbs, and dried fruit. The palate is robust, flavourful, and spicy with a backbone of citrus notes, ending with a long and saline finish. Very limited production with only 1500 bottles released after 8 years of ageing.
