Vulcao Ameixambar

£30.00

Vulcao makes textural, complex and saline white wines in the Azores Islands, in the heart of the Atlantic.

Their Ameixambar is a blend of two of the local varieties with grapes coming mostly from a vineyard planted 400m above sea level on a bed of lava ash, left behind by the eruption of the Capelinhos volcano in 1957. There’s also a small proportion of fruit from the incredible basalt soils of the Pico island. This limited-production Adega do Vulcao Ameixambar captures the raw volcanic character and maritime freshness of this unique terroir.

The wine is bone dry, textural, mouth-filling and complex. It has flavours of lemon, pear and a touch of nuttiness, but its real character is the trademark minerality. Super long in the mouth, leaving you wanting another glass.

Only a few thousand bottles are made of this unique wine from a rare winemaking region, with a pure oceanic soul.
