Vintage Beaucastel Chateauneuf du Pape 2001
£119.00
Château de Beaucastel has long been regarded as one of the greatest wineries in France, notorious for its elegance, poise and ageing potential. Beaucastel has an exceptional terroir at the Northern point of Châteauneuf du Pape, exposed to the cooling Mistral wind which provides such balance. All thirteen grape varieties of the Chateauneuf have been organically grown since the sixties; without a doubt, Beaucastel is a name we are proud to highlight and an organic wine icon that many have learnt from.
The 2001 vintage is a great vintage. It is showing an elegant red colour in the glass, followed by a complex layer of aromas from exotic fruits, five spices, and star anise to a touch of iodine. On the palate, it is well-balanced between fresh and ripe dark fruits. 22 years of bottle aging has softened the tannins which makes the wine ready to drink now. Allow enough time to decant before drinking. Very limited stock is available, get one before it is gone!
