The 1989 vintage is a blend of 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay from a rather warm year. The wine was disgorged almost 20 years later, resulting in an extended period of time in the bottle. The artistic vintage series focused on how the bottle tasted at the time, this vintage being called ‘Ampleness and Suppleness’.
Given 30 years+ in the bottle, it is showing dark gold colour yet it remains elegantly bright. The aroma is complex with multiple layers that will take a moment to decode. From pastry, coconut, roasted nuts, caramel, and whipped butter to oxidative notes, the wine will open up with dried red fruits and a touch of honey biscuit after some air time. The acidity is relatively subtle in this vintage but lifted with some fruity elements from crisp green apples and stone fruits in the extensive finish.
This is a rare find of matured Champagne we got from a private collector. Only 1 bottle is available. Please note the wine has been sorted in a cold cellar and the label condition is not like new! If you wish to see the bottle’s condition before purchase, please get in touch at hello@wanderlustwine.co.uk.
