Seresin Estate was founded by the famous film director, Michael Seresin. Despite the glitz and glamour of the estate’s founder, it has, in our eyes, iconic status as one of the first New Zealand producers taking organic winemaking seriously; as well as making brilliant, world-class Pinot Noir! Michael had a desire to create wine in the most natural way possible, without compromising on quality and from organically and biodynamically tended vines, Seresin makes artisan wines produced through gentle, traditional methods.
Aged versions of the early Seresin wines are extremely rare. We managed to pick up one case from an investor who’d stored these perfectly. Now 20 years old, it will have much fewer primary fruit flavours (fresh fruits) but much more complex and developed flavours of cured meats, leather, tobacco, mushroom and leafy forest floor. For those that get to open these few bottles, they are a piece of brilliant NZ wine history.
