Vintage Oliver’s Taranga DJ Cabernet Sauvignon 2015

This is an outstanding example of New World Cabernet Sauvignon. It is intensely rich with varietal Cabernet notes- concentrated blackcurrant cassis, cigar box, earthy dark fruits, clove, liquorice, tar and sweet spices. The palate has tonnes of power and an integrated tannin line which gives structure. The finish is extremely long, delicious blackberry jam note melded with anise with an earthy intensity. This wine spends 2 years in oak, all of it French and half of it new, half of it pre-used.

The 2015 vintage of DJ Cabernet Sauvignon opens with a vibrant aromatic lift of sweet vanilla, charred oak, mulberry compote and a playful hint of chocolate-mint biscuits. The palate opens up with blackcurrant and dark cherry notes weaving through layers of mint jelly, anise, and savoury gravy, framed by chewy, dusty tannins that bring both grip and finesse. A subtle thread of chocolate and toast from oak ageing adds further depth and complexity.

This is a Cabernet built with power and longevity. With 10 years of bottle ageing, its bold structure and concentration have evolved beautifully, and it is entering the prime drinking window now.
